New and Exciting things at the library...

We have so many new and exciting things happening at the library right now.  We have new books, more new books and then add more new books on top of that.  I have read many new books to some of the classes so far like The Busy Beaver by Nicolas Odland and Mad at Mommy by Komako Sakai. These are two great picture books that can be used to make connections to the world and to yourself.

I have also read some (first 40 pages) of the novel Also Known as Harper by Ann Haywood Leal.  This is a very well written novel that deals with a exceptionally mature Grade 5 girl named Harper who has to deal with some very heavy family issues.  It has a very interesting southern U.S. tone that may throw some readers off, but is still a great read.

I have many more new and exciting books in the library that are waiting for you to borrow.  However, do not forget the classics! They need reading as well.

Having Fun

I have had the best time at General Currie so far! I think I have met everyone by now and am starting to remember some names (slowly).  I am looking forward to collecting Grade 4 and 5 names to come to the library during different times to help be 'library monitors.'  Make sure you check out Tumblebooks at home using the special code on the book mark some of you have collected.

The library will be open before school and after school (except Thursdays), as well as during recess time for research and book exchange.

Hi everyone and welcome to General Currie's new school library media page! My name is Ms. Borthwick and I will be in the library until the end of the school year. I have lived and worked in Richmond almost my whole life, except when I have travelled to other countries to visit and when I lived in London, England for 4 years.
